As a high schooler semi outsider in an incredibly small town, this podcast was extremely insightful and I think helped me diagnose why I feel so shaken and confused when I got an actual friend group. I have a nasty habit of being too sarcastic and I frequently joked with a friend of mine about like a fake argument that didn't matter, turns out they were actually getting frustrated. This shook me to my core because the vast vast majority of my relationships have been parasocial, and I have never had any consequence, additionally I am a very non-combative person and this podcast helped me figure out why I felt so shaken by being a negative force in someone life. Plus I have a friend that seems to be slightly right leaning and we were joking about Trumps court case and he got mad that we were sharing politics in the group chat, and I tried to kindly explain that to ask us to remove any personal politics is unfair to us, and I don't want to hold back parts of ourselves that differ, he started to get mad, I went into peacekeeper mode. But my other friends didn't budge, and I know realize that I shouldn't have caved just because criticizing and checking your friends is scary. Very funny podcast, and one of the most thought provoking pieces of digital media I have consumed in a very long time. I already liked brian and ify from dropout, but now I'm never missing another ep of Um Actually.

Hi Jarvis, as someone who works in vet med, I just wanted to give some insight on the food situation. They most likely stopped providing authorization for outside pharmacies because companies like Chewy are a nightmare to deal with for the staff. A huge chunk of our time is spent signing off on these prescriptions and sending them back, and Chewy in particular is notorious for being very hard to work with. For example they will tell the owner they’ve waiting on us for approval, but they never actually sent it to us in the first place. Or if we actually do receive it and send the approval back to them, it mysteriously gets lost and they keep sending new requests for things we already approved. Which results in frustrated clients not getting their prescriptions in a timely manner, and the vet staff wasting a bunch of time trying to troubleshoot issues with the online pharmacy. Your vet definitely should have given you a heads up that their policy was changing, but unfortunately it’s just not sustainable for a lot of clinics to work with online pharmacies anymore.

Very hard disagree on the scammers thing. It doesn't matter their situation; they're knowingly doing something amoral. Just because they're in an economically depressed place, doesn't mean that's an excuse. Just like if you have a bad childhood, it doesn't mean it's okay if you treat people horribly. I find it very hard to believe that "scammer" would really be their ONLY available job option....

Their magic story is like Yugioh to me. I only like it if I can play with my partner or close friends. I have fun collecting pokemon cards on my own all day every day. But yugioh I only want to play decks with because each deck is so uniek and their own little epic story. I'm sure there is a yugioh deck for anyone. I like the almost pokemon/digimon like decks with Crystal Beasts/fluffles/purely/yokai. But there are also robots and dragons, ninja's, magicians, worriors, water creatures, sushi boats, trains etc . Everything is in yugioh and it's amazing if you find out yugioh is more like a medium like books/movies/comics but a card game with lots of genre's. Highly recoment it if you want that one genre you love and no other card game has it. Yugioh might have it.

It made me sad to hear Jarvis say that his surgery wasn’t covered by insurance. I got a double incision mastectomy (I’m transmasculine) and it was covered by insurance because it’s considered medical treatment for gender dysphoria, a diagnosed condition that I have. Hearing Jarvis describe his own dysphoria, and how he felt about his body prior to surgery, I feel like gynecomastia surgery should absolutely be covered for the same reason. Gender affirming care such as that should be covered for everyone regardless if they’re trans or cis!!
